February 7, 2008

There is not that much new to report. We have a similar routine everyday of eating breakfast at about 7 AM so that we can arrive at the hospital before 8 AM and begin surgery soon after that. Last night we worked until about 11 PM or so. The work has been very rewarding and the people are very grateful. One child that we took care of yesterday by the name of Elma was just an angel. She had her cleft lip repaired last year and was back for her palate repair this year. It is important to repair the palate while they are young so that they can learn to speak before it is too late. I will try and upload Elma's picture later. Today one of the rotarians took me to a small school or day care center in a very impovrished area. The rotarians have done a lot to supply the school with supplies, but the problem is that the school floods every year. They are trying to move the school to higher ground. He believes that Kelsi must be a fundraising expert, because he was wondering if she could help.
